Sharing your site on social media
You can simply copy and paste the URL of any page of your site when sharing it on a social media or messaging platform. Most social platforms will generate a small preview of the content which includes the page title, summary, and image. You can control these values. Learn more about this by reading the metadata section of the SEO documentation.
Previewing how a page appears on social media
You may want to preview your post before sharing it, or you may want to debug a social post that is not displaying the excerpt or image that you want. A few of the platforms have debugging tools. An account login is required for each.
- Facebook Sharing Debugger
- Twitter Card Validator
- LinkedIn Post Inspector
- Google Rich Results Test and Schema Markup Validator
Adding social sharing links
Some standard content types support displaying social sharing links below the page title. These links allow your visitors share the page on popular social media platforms, email a link to the page, or print the page. Site administrators can enable and configure your social media options.
- From the Admin toolbar, click Manage » Configuration » System » Modules
- Next to Share, Print, and Email Links, click on the Enable button.
- Once enabled, you can access the settings form on the same Modules page. Use the Settings button in the right column to access the form.
- Select which types of links to display and which content types:
Link Types | Content Types |
---|---|
Facebook | Alert Page Event News Person |
Social Media icons will display in content types indicated.
