Upcoming Events and Events Archives

There are two common needs when displaying events on a site. One is to display a list of upcoming events only, and the other is to display an archive of all past events.

The Events List Block is used for both purposes.

For upcoming events, you just need to set the "Date Filtering" option to "Show only upcoming events". This is the default value for all events list blocks. A block of this type is commonly displayed on a main events page for your site.

For events archives, the "Date Filtering" option should be set to "Show only past events". The pager should be enabled as well, as there may be many past events that exceed the maximum limit for one page.

It's best to create a separate page for your events archive so that it's clear to your visitors that they're browsing a list of all past events only.

It may also be helpful to add an Events Archive Years List block to the same page, to allow visitors to quickly filter the events archive list by year.
