Release Notes

The items listed in future versions are not guaranteed nor are their release dates. The reference numbers refer to items in the WDS internal tracking system.

Version 2.8 (May 19, 2021)

  • #536: Alerts will no longer appear in site search results. Additionally, site admins can optionally disable the detail page and search results for Courses, People, and Resource Links. Some sites don't need the detail pages for these content types as they only display them in simple content listing blocks without links.
  • #594: A notice is now displayed at the top of some administrative Webform interfaces to warn about collecting sensitive information.
  • #625: Improved styling for pages if they are printed. The print styles hide menus, breadcrumbs, sidebar menus, the footer, and everything in the header except for the site name and site logo. Accordions are also all expanded.
  • #1006: Fixed a styling issue with the main menu and header when the browser width was at one specific width.
  • #1044: All blocks now have an option to link the block title to another page on your website.
  • #1056: When importing courses by subject and catalog number, the subject is no longer case sensitive (e.g. COS 126 and cos 126 will both work). This also applies to manually specified courses in the course offerings list block.
  • #1077: The Image Block now supports the ability to hide the image caption and to link the image to another page on your site.
  • #1095: Site builders can now manage Layout Builder Styles and CKEditor Styles which supplement CSS Injector to provide a structured approach for applying reusable styles for your page layouts and text. Usage of these features is restricted to those with the "CSS Manager" role. Reach out to WDS to have this role added to your account on your site.
  • #1124: Site admins can now manually clear the website cache. Note that caches are typically automatically cleared as needed. Manually clearing is rarely needed, but can sometimes serve as a quick resolution to a caching issue on the platform.
  • #1125: Importing courses by specifying a list of subject and catalog numbers is now much faster.
  • #1128: Upgraded to Drupal 9. There are no significant user facing changes.

Version 2.7 (April 20, 2021)

  • #210: The "browse available tokens" link has been removed from the metatags section of content forms as it was not useful.
  • #530: The default "none" option has been removed from the taxonomy term form widget on content entry forms. This value was confusing because was not removed when selecting terms from the widget.
  • #564: When adding a link using the WYSIWYG text editor, the autocomplete results list now includes the path of the page instead of the date it was last updated. This makes it easier to identify the correct page you're linking to.
  • #734: Newly uploaded documents are no longer stored in a directory based on the year and month they were uploaded. This was done to prevent confusion when replacements are uploaded for old documents, as the year and month in the path would no longer be accurate.
  • #758: Fixed issue where alerts could sometimes display in the back-end admin interface.
  • #937: The default styling of exposed filters for content list blocks (News List, Events List, etc) has been improved. The filters may now also stack vertically instead of horizontally if many filters are added.
  • #985: Fixed an issue where the check-boxes for WDS-created custom content types appeared on the settings page for Share, Print, and Email. These links must be enabled for custom content types in a different way by WDS staff.
  • #1073: Increase the maximum document file size from 10MB to 30MB
  • #1098: Increased the number of related news articles that show on a person detail page from 4 to 6 when configured to use the "grid with images" display setting.
  • #1108: Minor design enhancements and fixes for the Tiger theme, including:
    • Removed gray background from breadcrumb trail.
    • Fixed bug where the admin toolbar menu fell below the sticky main menu.
    • Fixed bug where floated images overflowed the accordion container.
  • #1111: Resolved several styling issues with the header and mobile menu when the dark flavor of Tiger is used.
  • #1126: Fixed an issue where content lists on taxonomy term detail pages could display outdated content.

Version 2.6 (March 17, 2021)

  • #750: A new Events Calendar block is available for displaying a traditional monthly calendar display of events.
  • #904: Newly created Timeline Feature pages will now have a URL path automatically generated for them based on the menu link title or page title. Previously the content editor was required to input a URL path manually.
  • #981: Fixed an issue on some sites where a redundant sub-tab on the content dashboard called "Overview" was displayed. This tab was identical to "All Content" as has been removed.
  • #1017: Jump link anchor names for jump link menus are now based on the title of the heading they link to. For example, "/my/page#My-First-Heading" and "/my/page#Some-Other-Heading". Previously they would be labeled "#block-1" and "#block-2". This creates more human-readable and shareable links.
  • #1024: Existing and newly added CSS Injector rules are now applied to your site's front-end theme only by default. Previously, site admins would have to manually select the front-end theme. This prevents your CSS rules from applying to your admin theme, which is typically not desired. Existing rules that were specifically targeting the admin theme are unaffected by this change.
  • #1026: Fixed an issue where the block type label was not displayed in the custom reusable block library. Now the correct block type (e.g. Accordion, Image, Billboard) are displayed.
  • #1036 and #1037: Added an Events Archive Years List block and improved the visual styling of the existing News Archive Years List block. These blocks can be used to help visitors browse lists of news and events that took place in past years. See each block's documentation page for example use cases.
  • #1065: A new featured image display option "Browser width (8x1)" is available on Page, News, Event, and Course content types. This new 8x1 aspect ratio outputs a very wide, but short image. When adding or editing a content item of these types, use the Featured Image Display field to choose the new option.
  • #1067: Lowered the required minimum time that must pass before a Webform can be submitted. This minimum time rule is a spam prevention technique that was configured too aggressively. A warning message will also now be displayed on some Webform admin pages about forms that are missing a CAPTCHA element. It's important to add CAPTCHA elements to all webforms that can be submitted by unauthenticated visitors.
  • #1074: Fixed an issue where the block padding override settings on layout section configuration forms was not working. This option allows site builders to control the padding added between blocks in a section.
  • #1087: Pages can now be scheduled to be published at a future date and time automatically. This feature was already available for News and Events. Expand the new "Scheduling options" section in the right sidebar of the page edit screen to utilize this feature.
  • #1101: The width of the drop-down select menus for various admin forms has been increased to improve user experience. For example, the "Featured Image Display" select menu is now much wider.

Version 2.5 (February 17, 2021)

  • #605: The Media block has been deprecated and is replaced with two new blocks: Image and Video. These new blocks provide more options.
  • #611: Several new options are available for controlling the background color, image, and sizing for layout sections.
  • #909: The user account overview page now sorts users by the date and time the last accessed the site, making it quick and easy to see who the inactive and active users are.
  • #948: Fixed an issue where clicking items in a jump link menu may scroll to a header that is obscured by the sticky main menu or admin toolbar.
  • #955: Newly created People List blocks will sort by last name in ascending order by default.
  • #956: The link to the feed of Princeton building locations on form for adding or editing an event has been updated.

  • #959: Added a theme setting to toggle the display of the page title in the breadcrumb trail.
  • #1004: There is now a field to provide additional information for a person's office hours. This can be used to provide additional instructions or details.
  • #1021: Site builders can now add a CAPTCHA element to Webforms to help reduce SPAM submissions.
  • #1039: Related documents can now be added to News and Events.
  • #1040: The Course Offerings List bock now allows site builders to expose the Course Term selection to visitors and to display the course term value with each course.
  • #1049: Webforms are now limited to a maximum width. Previously they would expand to the full available page width, making some forms unnecessarily wide.
  • #1057: Several bug fixes and improvements to the automated accessibility checker.
  • #1059: A new Timeline Feature module is available. It can be used for showcasing a schedule or historical information.
  • #1060: Fixed an issue where disabled menu links were affecting the active menu trail.
