Release Highlights

Improvements to Content List Filtering Options

All content list blocks (e.g. Page List, Events List, News List, etc) have the ability to only show content that's tagged with a particular A term is an individual item that belongs to some taxonomy vocabulary, typically used for categorizing content. For example, a vocabulary "Colors" may have terms in it "Red", "Green", "Blue". . A common scenario is configuring a News List Block on a site's homepage to show news articles that are tagged with a "Featured Story" taxonomy term from the News Category taxonomy. All other news articles are hidden from the list.

A new Filtering behavior option is available to control this filtering behavior. In addition to showing content that's tagged with a particular term (the default behavior described above), you can now hide content that's tagged with a particular term:

A common scenario this may be useful is when building a staff directory page using two different People List blocks. The first block can be configured to show all people tagged with "Leadership", while the second block can be configured to show all people except those tagged with "Leadership". This allows you to easily display the department leadership at the top of the page separate from the remaining staff.

All Changes

Content Administration

  • #2604: Fixed an issue where replicated page layouts would sometimes show blocks in the wrong order.

Content Authoring

  • #2592: The "Muted H2" and "Muted H3" CKEditor styles introduced in the previous release have been renamed to "Smaller H2" and "Smaller H3".
  • #2582: Styling improvements for the slide-out settings tray that's used when configuring layout blocks and sections.

Courses

  • #1106: The Courses Dashboard has been updated to remove the column for Track and add a column for Updated Date. The updated date can be useful to more easily find the recently updated or imported courses.
  • #1405: Added help text to the courses dashboard and import form to indicate that upcoming terms are available one day after the Registrar releases them.

Events

  • #2591: Outbound iCal feeds for events will now include the past 1 month of events and all upcoming events, with a total limit of 200. Previously, the past 1 year of events was included and it maxed out at 150 events.

Media

  • #1877: Fixed an issue where thumbnails for some YouTube embedded videos would not display.
  • #2583: Documents with the "ics" file extension can now be uploaded.

Miscellaneous

  • #1931: The filtering behavior of taxonomy filters on content list blocks is now configurable. Previously, filters could only be used to show content that's tagged with the selected terms. Now it's possible to indicate that content tagged with the selected terms should be hidden.
  • #2563: Fixed an issue where external link icons would sometimes wrap to a new line by themselves. The icon will now remain alongside the last word of the link.
  • #2598: Fixed an issue where content list blocks (e.g. Page List, News List, etc) that were configured to link their titles to an internal page would not work correctly.

Post

  • #1856: RSS feeds for Post content items are now available and work similarly to those for the News A collection of fields that describe a specific type of content, like a news article, a person, or an event.
