Person Detail Page Design Update

For sites configured to use the newer design for the Person detail page (excludes the Scholar theme), design updates have been made to the top of the page to provide a better visual balance for the various fields.

If you're unsure if your site is using the newer design, you can check the People module configuration on your site. These changes are not applicable to sites using the Scholar theme, which has its own distinct design.

All Changes

Accessibility

  • #1136: The icons that indicate a link leaves the site, sends an email or opens a document have slight updates in size and color. Several additional categories of links now receive icons as well, e.g., phone numbers, file downloads, and new windows.
  • #1267: Darkened the color of text displayed in a <code> element slightly to satisfy WCAG color contrast requirements.

Billboards

  • #2782: The maximum number of slides allowed in a Billboard Slider Block has been increased from 5 to 10. Note that in most cases, WDS encourages site builders to explore other options for displaying this amount of content (like a content list block), as website visitors may not click through to view all slides.

Book

  • #2775: Book navigation menus (that WDS has not customized) now include a link at the top to return to the main book overview page.

Editorial Experience

  • #336: A warning message is now displayed on the edit and layout forms of Page content items if the Content Fields Block has been removed and there’s content in the body field. This block is what outputs the body field content. Removing this block from the layout prevents the body field from being shown.
  • #1293: Fixed an issue on the Media Library table view where clicking the table header column names to sort by that column did not work. The table headers are now no longer clickable. Instead, a “Sort by” select menu is available to control sort.
  • #2388: The rich text editor has received many updates. Read more details about the changes to the editor.
  • #2669: Content entry forms that have multi-value fields now include a “Remove” button for each field value. Previously the only way to remove an individual value was to manually clear it out.
  • #2717: Fixed an issue where the pager links in the Media Library modal window (for selecting media for featured image fields) would not work as intended.
  • #2737: Fixed an issue where it was not possible to submit or reset filters in the Media Library modal window (used when selecting images for the featured image) more than once.
  • #2761: Most link fields on content entry forms (e.g. the “Optional Link” field on Billboard Blocks) have been updated to make linking to local content easier. The autocomplete drop-down now includes more information about matched content to link to, like its A collection of fields that describe a specific type of content, like a news article, a person, or an event. Site admins can add additional content types by enabling optional modules. WDS can also create custom content types for a site. and path. The link text is now automatically populated with the title of the linked A individual item of content. For example, a page, a news article, and an event are all content items, which correspond to the Page, News, and Event content types, respectively. as well.

Events

  • #2513: Fixed an issue where the Events List - Conference Block would display tomorrow's schedule a 4 to 5 hours earlier than it should.
  • #2581: The Events List - Conference Block now supports the ability to independently control the behavior of linking the speaker to the speaker detail page. This controls both the linking of the speaker's name and photo. Previously, the speaker linking behavior followed the event title linking behavior.
  • #2774: Fixed an issue where some text in the Events List Block would wrap to two lines unexpectedly.
  • #2799: Fixed an issue where unpublished Event Speakers were still displayed in the Events List - Conference Block.

News and Events Importers

  • #2736: It’s no longer possible to make edits to most of the fields on imported events and imported news. These fields are disabled to prevent an editor from making changes that would possibly be overwritten when the source feed changed. Editors wishing to make changes to imported content should first replicate a copy of the content, make changes there, and un-publish the original imported version.

People

  • #1852: The Person content type has a new field for inputting a person’s Affiliation. This will be displayed alongside the existing Position, Role, and Title fields. It’s also available for output on the People List Block.
  • #2519: Fixed an issue where the optional links for filtering by the first letter of last names for People List Blocks was not output correctly on mobile display sizes.
  • #2629: The Website field on the Person content type now supports entering internal URLs.
  • #2657: For sites configured to use the new design for the Person detail page, design updates have been made to provide a better visual balance the various fields that a person may have values for.
  • #2685: It’s now possible to add multiple websites for a Person. Additional websites links will display in People List Blocks and the person detail page.

Posts

  • #2752: The Post content type has a new “Source” field which can be used to provide a URL to an external webpage. This can be useful if you are summarizing the contents of some other website, and want to show a link to the full contents on the other website. Additionally, there’s a checkbox to have the detail page of the post link directly to the source webpage. This feature is also available on the News content type.

Resource Links

  • #2748: The document type label for Microsoft file formats (e.g. Word 2007 Document) that’s optionally displayed on Resource Link List Blocks has been updated to remove the year. The year can caused confusion for users who thought they needed an older version of an application to open these file types.

Webforms

  • #1238: On Webforms where a CAS attribute token was used as a default value (e.g. [cas:attribute:mail]), the token was previously only replaced if the user filling out the webform was logged in and had a value for the specified attribute. Now, if the user is not logged in or does not have a value for the attribute, the token is removed from the form field.
