Basic settings

The basic settings of your website are easy to configure. You can change basic site information such as Site name and other default settings easily.

From the Admin toolbar, click Manage » Configuration » System » Basic site settings

The form fields provide helpful descriptions, but you may find more context and information about some of them described below.

  • Site name
Your site name appears in the your site's header by default, though you may choose to display a logo instead of the site name.
  • Site subname
How this is displayed depends on your theme settings.
  • Email address
This email address will be used by default as the "from" address in automated emails your site may send.
  • Default front page
Set to the path of the page you want to designate as your main homepage (e.g. "/home").
  • Error pages
You can optionally designate a page to serve as the "access denied" or "page not found" error pages. These are not commonly customized.
  • Google Analytics Property ID
To get a Google Analytics Property ID, register your site with Google Analytics, or if you already have registered your site, go to your Google Analytics Settings page to see the ID next to every site profile. Find more information in the documentation. Note that the default property ID of UA-53634508-2 is a placeholder value associated with WDS and should be replaced with your own.
  • Site Verification
If you want to register control of your site with Google and Bing, you can enter the verification IDs here to prove you control the site. This can be useful if you want more insight and control of how those search engines interact with your site.
  • Link Behavior
The default value for these options is what WDS recommends.
